Despite being at the young age of twelve, Trevor Burke already got some exposure from a camera before, but this time, he is the star that people are watching.
Yesterday, Burke went out to perform for a full TV crew and studio audience at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, N.J., for a taped audition for the NBC reality show “America’s Got Talent,” as told by his father Joseph Burke.
Together with the other hopefuls, they try to get the green light from the show’s celebrity judges so that they could head on to the next week’s competition.
Burke is only a sixth-grader at Wredling Middle School in St. Charles that has been given 90 seconds to make the audience laugh. That wouldn’t be easy since some famous like Howard Stern and Heidi Klum are there to watch the show.
In 2010, he started getting a break by telling a joke at a talent in West Chicago. He was one of the winners and that became his stepping stone to greatness. Later on, he tried performing in Chicago and Milwaukee.
Burke wasn’t alone as he journeys to become famous as there was his father alongside him along the way. His father takes care of the paperwork the reality TV show. Without it, young Burke will not be able to take part of the show.
His father, Joseph Burke noted that it was way back in October when he does the paperwork. Earlier this month, the producer called and asks him if he wants his son on the show.
Though, young Burke still needs to go to school, that won’t stop him from becoming a future star as he got the qualities of a true star. Even at a young age, he already takes part of 17 short films, three feature-length films and two music videos.
Burke admits that working in the showbiz is hard since you need to be away from your friends and your family. He then added that he knows that he have to make sacrifices if he wants to achieve something.
At least one Chicago-area comic, Dobie Maxwell, believe that he has the power to stay with the show for a longer time. Maxwell is highly successful as he has performed at “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.”
Maxwell noted that he has the means to be successful as he highly liked by the audience.
“This will give him a career,” Maxwell said of Burke.
