The CW's programming is geared towards an audience ages 16-25, so I was not surprised when they came out with their own version of Beverly Hills 90210. 90210 is not a remake of the old show this is just the latest addition to the Beverly Hills 90210 franchise. The shows centers around the lives of rich high school kids, some of which are very spoiled by their parents. These teen are constantly faced with situations where they should use their better judgment, unfortunately they do not always. One very interesting random fact is that the Beverly Hills 90210 franchise reuses actors for multiple roles throughout the shows; sometimes even using an actor to play two difference persons on the same show. The franchise has come under criticism for this from critics and viewers, but this has not stopped this franchise from making money and outlasting most of its competitors.
90210 has always pushed the envelope when it comes to sex and drugs on television. Yes one can argue that this is what happens in real life, but one can also argue that this happens in real life because our generation is being exposed to things like this at an ever decreasing age. Even the actors from the show have stated in interviews that parents should know what their children are watching and if the show becomes a problem they should sit them down and talk to them about the things that are portrayed there. I am all for shows about real life, but what this how is doing is brainwashing a generation and then telling them that is the way they were before; I do not buy it.
Like most teen shows 90210 has been nominated for numerous awards each year; this is not something special because hundreds of crappy shows get to take home these awards every year. As with most other critics I do not think this show is anything special, it is basically what you can expect from any teen drama airing on television today; a bunch of trashy junk that is mildly entertaining. If you have time to throw away watch 90210, this is a pretty crappy show and I really do not see why anybody who has anything better to do would watch it.
In closing, do not take my word for it maybe you are the kind of persons who likes teen dramas. If so, you may find this program mildly entertaining.
