Fox’s television series Gotham started before the whole thing happened on little Bruce’s life. It focuses on the life of James Gordon, but time passes and the other characters of the Batman saga are slowly shaping. After Gordon, Detective Harvey Bullock was introduced, which is followed by the lovely Selina Kyle AKA Catwoman.
This time it is the faithful bodyguard that will get the recognition. Alfred Pennyworth will be taking over the duties of looking after the orphaned Bruce Wayne. Over the past stories, it is not clear on what happened at the adolescence life of Bruce and what had influence him to become a Batman, that most villain will be scare off.
Some people believe that the Alfred in this show will help Bruce Wayne to become a better fighter and help him in some vigilante mission. Alfred Pennyworth was an ex-marine from East London who has loyally served the Waynes. Now, that the worst thing had happened, he needs to attend to the side of young Bruce Wayne most of the time.
On the Batman Trilogy, it was Michael Caine that took over that character, which portrayed a tough, but sensitive father figure for Bruce Wayne. But, that is not the only reason why Alfred has a tough image in this series, as he has been portrayed as everything from a world-weary senior to a gifted boxer and physical specimen in his own right.
And there are no reasons why the show would let people know about details about Alfred if they can’t see it with their own eyes. It only helps the story on why Batman become as tough as an adult.
From the explanation above, it is clear that Alfred’s character would interest fans of the Dark Knight. The relationship of Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth are depicted in one of two ways: both mourning the deaths of Thomas and Martha Wayne, or far in the future as Bruce’s career as Batman (and Alfred’s supporting role) already underway.
But no one knows about Bruce’s teenage years? At some point, most teens did rebel against their parents or someone close to them. The question on what set up his path to the world of crime fighting will soon be revealed. Everything is speculation for now as Alfred’s character is not even there right now. Still, most people would be eager to find out the truth about Bruce Wayne’s past.
