Last Wednesday on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," The Voice judge announced his retirement on the NBC singing competition after four seasons.
The singer told Ellen that he doesn’t want to overstay in the reality TV show. He added that there are too much for him to do and he can’t do that while staying with the reality show. He plans on creating an album. It has been more than four years since the last time he makes an album.
Green noted that he have a great working relationship with NBC, and added that he has a deal with the network that he will be hosting a talk show. He is also planning a world tour together with his friend Lionel Richie.
After the announcement, he makes it clear that his relationship with NBC is always great and there are no problems with him and the network. However, he is really hoping to revive his singing career.
"'The Voice' has been an immensely enjoyable experience for me and I can only hope I have enriched the lives of our viewers, the contestants, and the many friends I made there. I will always be there in spirit," he promised. "Meanwhile, NBC and I plan to continue our relationship with several new co-ventures including a new music show, while we also explore our ideas for me to create and host a new show of my own. I will not go quietly into the night... expect more great music and entertainment done in my own unique, unmistakable, and undeniable way. 'The Voice' has given me all the altitude and incentive to do just that. Thanks for the memories and make way for many more!"
Peter Telegdy, the President of Alternative and Late Night Programming NBC Entertainment, thanked Green for his contributions on the reality show.
He said that without CeeLo Green, the show will not be as highly successful as it is today. Though, the other judges did contribute too, the show will not be as big as of today, if not for CeeLo Green.
The singer is one of the pioneers of the reality show. He got known for his unique fashion sense, always spinning his chair around. Aside from the shades, he is also known for bringing his white lap cat, Purrfect.
Aside from Green, another judge that will be missed in the reality show next season is Christina Aguilera. The two are to be replaced with Usher and Shakira for next season.
