Cheryl Cole shares her experience with Malaria - The same cheerful X Factor judge that is on the news also had suffered from the dreaded disease, which takes the lives of millions. Now, she is speaking on their behalf to raise awareness about the disease. She wants people to know that they could do something.

It is hard to imagine the X Factor comeback judge, Cheryl once suffered from a disease that he could die from. Four years ago, she went to Tanzania to help the people there and after a year, she was battling the disease. The singer was lucky enough to have won the battle against malaria, the very same disease, which kills most people on that land. Though, she is happy to be alive, there are millions of both adults and children that weren’t as lucky as her. With that in mind, Cheryl becomes the voice of the Sport Relief in raising awareness in malaria, and she hopes to raise funds to help provide for those who need them most, medical supplies and resources like mosquito nets. In a video that was broadcasted on Friday, 21 March, she said that climbing Kilimanjaro was among the hardest thing that she had done in her life. Her motivation was knowing that she could help many people to avoid malaria. Adding, she never knew that after one year that the same illness will make her fall to her knees. During that time, doctors gave her 24 hours to live. For her, that was really scary. The pain that she had undergone was the same thing that millions of people go through, just because they don’t have a mosquito net that could save their lives. She noted how lucky she was for getting immediate care. Some people aren’t lucky and added that ‘a £5 mosquito net could keep a child safe and really does help.’ Malaria is a deadly disease, but it could be prevented if we all work together. Back in 2009, when she climb the mountain of Kilimanjaro, more than a million kids died from malaria, but five years later that numbers were 150,000 less per year. That means that her project have not been in vain as they are beating malaria. She said that she is speaking about her experience because it is very close to her heart and she want people to know that they have the power to help. On the night of Sport Relief presenters Gary Lineker, David Walliams, Davina McCall, Claudia Winkleman, Jack Whitehall and Fearne Cotton will be hosting a star-studded show full of celebrity performances, comedy sketches, and highlights from this year’s challenges. The Sport Relief Weekend will occur on Friday till Sunday 23rd with all money raised will be given to the poorest and most disadvantaged people in the UK and all over the world.
