Apprentice winner Michelle Dewberry believe that she was about to die when she found out that she got a severe disease.
Her doctor told her that the tumour on her face was nothing, and now, another doctor told her that it was skin cancer after six months.
Michelle crumbled when she found out what her condition was. She then became angry at the doctor that did misdiagnose her earlier. The doctor had given her misdiagnose that might lead to something scary.
Last Christmas, he met a plastic surgeon, who then told her that the lump on her face was serious; she immediately seeks a third opinion.
The surgery was painful, and she feared that her face will be disfigured because of the cancer.
The businesswoman has since had reconstructive surgery to put the skin back to the way it was.
But, the trauma left her so afraid to even look at the mirror.
The business expert first find out the lump growing on her face early last year, but sought help in summer.
She said that when she talks to a doctor for some advice, they told her that it was just a pimple. She wasn’t convinced so she sought for another opinion, they told her the same thing.
After being told about the seriousness of her condition by the plastic surgery expert, she went for a biopsy last December. Michelle together with her family waited for the result, but there were no phone calls.
The next morning, a letter shocked her as the letter comes from the doctor that diagnose her and was asking her to go to the hospital so that they could remove the tumour.
Michelle said: “I couldn’t believe that the GP hadn’t even called to tell me the ¬diagnosis before I got that terrifying letter.
She was panicking and she told her boyfriend about the diagnostic while she was screaming in fear of dying.
Luckily for her that the tumour is now gone a painful operation, but the operation left a huge crater on her face. However, the fear of the skin cancer going back is still there since there are many cases that it returns after a successful operation. She has to go to the hospital to be check for some signs of the disease returning every 12 weeks.
The apprentice winner was never been pond with skin tanning and staying too long in the sun before, but she noted that she would cover herself thoroughly if ever the sun is shining bright.
