America's Funniest Home Videos (AFV) is a reality television program that airs on ABC. This program has been on the air since November 26th 1989 and has run for a complete 20 seasons covering 448 episodes as of January 17th 2010. This program was created by Vin Di Bona who also serves as the director and executive producer. Over the years this program has been hosted by a number of people first by Bob Saget, then John Furgeisang & Daisy Fuetes, and now Tom Bergeron. In addition the program features narrators who voice over the videos with funny comments the current narrator is Jess Harnell; he has been narrating this program since 1997. AFV usually consists of a bunch of funny videos that have been sent in by viewers all around America. The videos have been reviewed by the producers of the show and the funniest ones have been selected to appear on this program. Many of the videos have been edited because of time constraints, so most of the videos are just a couple of seconds long. After the videos have been shown to a live audience the audience votes for the one that they think is funniest. The owner of the winning video is awarded $10,000; the runner-up gets $3,000, and the third place winner receives $1,000. At the end of the season the winning videos are all brought back in an hour long special and one is selected for a grand prize of $100,000. This program receives on average 8 million viewers and is the second longest running reality program on ABC. In addition this program received about 38 million viewers per episode between 1989 and 1990. This is one of the better reality programs on television because it does not take up too much time and you do not have to worry about following up on episodes or seasons; you can just tune in whenever you have time. If you are looking for a program to watch with the whole family this is one of the better ones. You do not have to worry about covering up the kid's ears or anything like that. Overall I think this is a pretty good show so tune into the ABC, log onto their website, or go out and buy one AFV's many video releases. If you have a video that you think is a winner; send it in. Who knows maybe you will take home the $10,000 prize or even the $100,000 prize.
