If you are looking for a new comedy show to watch check out Better Off Ted. This American comedy premiered on
ABC in early 2009 and has already been nominated for Ewwy's Best Comedy Series award. The show centers around six main characters, five of which work in a corporate office setting. The five all work for an "evil" company named Veridian Dynamics and are constantly faced with humorous situations where they must make ethical and moral choices.
Veridian Dynamics is your classic evil company, they provide almost everything we take for granted, from light bulbs to military weapons and as stated in the show there are only three governments with more power than this company. Since the company is evil and has no heart there are plenty of products which they put on the market which are dangerous and they are constantly being sued for this. Also, the company tests tons of products per day in ethically challenging manners.
The show takes its name from Ted the narrator. He is the head of one of Veridian Dynamics's many R&D departments. One of the reasons I find this show so great is because not only does his character play an active part in the show, he also takes time out to break the fourth wall and speak directly to the audience. His boss Veronica seems to "have no soul" and is always barking down orders to everybody under her. Ted seems to be the only one in the show who is not afraid of her and when she is around him she shows a little hint of compassion. Dr. Phil and Dr. Lem are Ted's two best scientists/inventors; both of them seem to be ok with the company taking advantage of them, this is very evident in one of the first episodes where Dr. Phil allows the company to freeze him; this is done to test out a new cryogenic suspension chamber being created by the company. Linda is the head of testing in Ted's R&D department; although she likes Ted he has said he doesn't keep office romances which have led to some conflict between the two of them. Rose is the only main character from the show that does not work at Veridian Dynamics; she is Ted's little daughter. Rose sometimes acts as Ted's conscience; in the episode where Dr. Phil got frozen, Rose was one of the few characters opposed to his freezing.
