Born on the 5th of May, 1959 Brian Williams is one of the most influential figures on TV today. In fact only 3 years ago in 2007, the TV anchor was named as one of the hundred most influential figures on the planet. That is some achievement from being a volunteer fireman for 3 years and a busboy at Perkins Pancake House before he became into the limelight.
Brian Williams started his broadcasting career back in 1981 at KAOM-TV. After a year of working at KAOM-TV, Brian moved to Washington D.C. to take on the role of a general reporter at WTTG-TV. Since then his career path led him to the most recent role of an anchor and managing editor of
NBC nightly News. As he progressed in his career, Brian Williams has gone on to become one of the top TV broadcasters. In fact, in 2004, Brian Williams was reported to be earning a whopping $8,000,000 a year for his role as the
NBC nightly anchor and in 2006, he has been reported to have commanded and been paid a salary no less than $10,000,000 a year.
Brian Williams has covered and reported on a number of famous events and news stories including, death of Michael Jackson, Death of Pope John Paul 2nd, the 2006 war in Lebanon, the Tsunami of 2004 in Asia, the 2008 American presidential election, hurricane Katrina, Ex U.S. president Ronald Reagan's funeral just to name a few of the historical events.
Brian Williams' early child days were spent in a middle class Irish home. His childhood took him from Ridgewood, New Jersey to New York, where he spent 10 years before returning to live in NJ again.
Brian Williams school days at Middletown were followed by Brookdale Community College, before furthering his education at the George Washington University and The catholic University of America. However, Brian Williams did not complete his course through to graduation and still looks back at this as one of his biggest regrets.
Brian Williams is an Irish, American who has had notable achievements at
NBC News in his main career roles as news reporter from 1993 to present and
NBC Nightly News anchor from 2004 to now. Brian has also delivered some keynote addresses, including an address at Provident College in 2002 and The Catholic University of America commencement address in year 2004. In addition to that he was also asked to deliver Bates College's commencement address in year 2005. He received honorary doctorate from Providence College and Bates College. He was also the recipient of doctor of Journalism degree from the Ohio State University.
Brian Williams has a habit of being invited onto a lot of the popular American TV shows. Brian is a well respected figure on the TV circuit and is normally regularly received on shows such as "The Daily Show" and on "Late Night with
Conan O'Brien." He was recently placed in the limelight for appearing on the "Tonight Show" with President Obama. Such appearances are a regular occurrence for Brian and he has also been a special guest at many other shows including; "Saturday night Live".
Like many of his successful counterparts, Brian Williams has also been responsible for moderating the democratic presidential debate. Apart from that, he has appeared on a multitude of household name shows including (but not limited to); "The Simpsons" and "30 Rock".
