He is born to Dr. Thomas O' Brien a renowned epidemiologist and Ruth Reardon who was the partner and attorney at ropes and grays in Brookline. His father Dr. Thomas is not just a distinguished epidemiologist but is also the Head of microbiology at famous peter Brigham hospital. He is also an illustrious professor at the Harvard medical school. Conan O' Brien is the third child to their parents out of the six. All the brothers and sisters are well known in their respective fields, Conan being the most celebrated because of his prominent presence in the television world. Conan is married to Elizabeth Ann Powell and has two children.
