CSI is an American television drama about a bunch of crime scene investigators working in Las Vegas. This show debuted in the latter part of 2000 and was created by Anthony E. Zuiker. CSI has run for a total of 10 seasons accumulating 218 episodes to date. Each episode runs for about 45 minutes without commercials and is broadcasted in both HD and standard definition. CBS is the original home of the CSI franchise and no other network has been given the privilege of showing syndicated episodes of this show just yet. The CSI franchise not only includes the television show; there are been numerous books, video games, blu-ray releases, and even a few board games. CBS is making sure to capitalize on this largely popular show and make as much money as they can while it is still loved by viewers. Like Law & Order CSI has spawned a horde of spinoffs including: CSI: Miami and CSI: NY, both of these shows have become just as popular- if not more- than CSI. I cannot stress enough the fact that CSI is not a show for children; CSI has received some of the worst ratings from parent watchdog groups. This is because CSI contains a lot of strong graphic violence and strong sexual scenes; so please make sure the kids are nowhere near the television set when you are watching this show. Unlike most crime dramas out there CSI does not really seem to care much about the authenticity of their show. The characters constantly do things that crime scene investigators would never dream of doing in real life. For example the CSI team leads high speed chases, raids, and even conducts interrogation of suspects when in real life this is done by officers in uniform. Also the finger print and DNA tests that are done in the show come back almost instantly and this has led to people expecting this in real life; in reality these tests can take days and sometimes weeks to bring results. Overall I give CSI a 6/10, yes the show is jam packed with action, yes the show is pretty interesting, but the writers, producers, and directors need to cut down on the amount of violence and sex in this show. Another thing they could probably work on is making it a little more real and taking out some of the fiction. Other than that CSI is a pretty ok show.
