Dancing with the Stars is a
BBC based television program that airs on
ABC, this program is basically what its name states. On Dancing with the Stars celebrities are teamed up with professional dancers who teach them how to dance, after they have had time to practice they perform before judges. There are three judges; these judges watch them perform and then individually grade contestants on a scale of one to ten so the lowest possible score is 3. The show is hosted by Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris who have both seen success in the entertainment business. The show that airs in America is just a small part of a much larger international show and even some local television stations have hosted similar shows like this.
Dancing with the Stars has had to compete with viewers from other reality performing arts shows such as: American Idol, The X-Factor, Britain's Got Talent, and America's Got Talent but there is just something about this dancing show that attracts viewers from all over the nation. I could never really get into this show, I've tried to watch in on more than one occasion and I find it to be quite boring. Sometimes the funniest part of the program is watching the dancers hurt themselves. Not that pain makes me happy, but some of the celebrities cannot dance to save their life. Every season you have 3 or 4 contestants who end up dropping out because they fell, pulled a muscle, or broke a bone.
The last episode of the 2009 season received the lowest ratings since the shows first year; drawing 19.2 million viewers. This is still a lot compared to other shows out there, so we really can't say that they are not doing pretty good rating wise. I just wouldn't like to see their insurance bill with all the accidents that happen during the show.
If you are looking for a reality show with a lot of glitter and glamour; Dancing with the Stars is for you. The guys dress themselves to look as handsome as possible (for the most part) and the girls, yes the girls are pretty sexy if you ask me. I do not really recommend reality shows because most of them are a complete waste of TV air space, but Dancing with the Stars is ok. Overall I give this show a 6/10.
