David Hoyt Canary is an actor who is best known for his role on the shows Bonanza and All My Children. His career has lasted over 50 years and is still going strong, and as long as the show All My Children is around I am sure he will continue to play a vital part of it.
Early Life:
David was born in Snine, Germany, but grew up in Massillon, Ohio. Here he attended school and played football for the Massillon Tigers of Washington High School, he was so good at the game that he won a scholarship to the University of Cincinnati and once there he was trained as a singer. He did pretty well in college and graduated as a music major but he did not stay in this career, instead he focused his goal on acting.
TV Career:
After playing small roles on a few television shows such as Gunsmoke and Hawaii Five-O David finally landed his first major role on the western show Bonanza. On the show he stared in a total of 94 episodes, in fact he did such a great job on this show that this is the role that most people remember him for. A little while after leaving the show Bonanza he joined the cast of All My Children; this is the show that he is currently working on. To date he has stared in 653 episodes of All My Children, on the show he played the role of the Chandler twins. Up on till recently he had to play both parts, but because the creators of the show have written out one of the twins by killing him David Canary only has to play one role. David Canary has also worked on quite a few episodes of One Life to Live and Another World so if you are looking for more of his work checkout the episode lineup of these shows.
Other achievements:
Over the years David Canary has won 8 awards; most of them for his work on All My Children. Every few years he takes home the Daytime Emmy award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Whenever he wins it is not to the surprise of many because he does a real good job of acting out his parts. In addition to the Daytime Emmys; he has also won three Soap Opera Digest Awards for his work on the same show. The Soap Opera Digest Awards that he has won are two for Outstanding Lead Actor and one for Favorite Couple which he shares with Jennifer Bassey. As I said before I do not think he is going anywhere for right now; David is 71 and going strong. I do not even have to tell you to go checkout his work because I am sure most of you already watch some show or movie that he has worked on. David Canary is definitely one of the greatest acting talents of our century and it is going to be hard for anybody to match his legacy.
