Just this week, Chris Evan said that Denise Van Outen shouldn’t compete in the BBC One dancing show competition, but she disagrees.
According to Denise, the radio DJ has picked on her, as fellow contestants such as Kimberley Walsh also got the dancing experience, but didn’t blast on her too.
In an interview with Daily Mirror, Denise says: 'Chris Evans is speaking completely out of turn, and also I don’t really know why he has chosen to pick on me because there are other contestants who have similar experience.'
'I think it’s harsh, and a bit rude really. Kimberley’s just done Shrek in the West End, and she’s in a girl band who dance. I just think it’s really harsh to suggest that I should be dumped from the show. If he’d watched it he would know that several past competitors have been in exactly the same position as me.'
It can be remembered that earlier this week, Chris said that he thinks that Denise has an unreasonable advantage over other contestants in the BBC One show since she had appeared in West End musicals before the Strictly Come Dancing competition.
Chris Evan discussed an article by Daily Mail columnist Sandra Parsons, when he asked: 'Should Denise Van Outen be allowed to appear on Strictly as she's appeared in a musical actually dancing?'
He said: 'I think she's [Parsons] got a point, don't get me wrong I love Denise, by the way, and who wouldn't want to see Denise lighting up our screens on a Saturday night on BBC One's hit show Strictly?'
He then added: 'But she is a professional actress/singer/dancer.
'Isn't it a story of aspiration from the beginning, the seeds of learning whether you do or don't have two left feet, to perhaps better yourself and becoming good if not better than you ever thought you could be?'
However, Denise doesn’t think so and instead looks forward to struts her stuff on the dance floor each weekend, and display her body in the glitzy attire.
'I won’t be shy!' she said. 'It’s the one place you can get away with clothes like this. The first show was a short, spangly number – I’m absolutely going to embrace the whole thing, I won’t hold back.'
Other celebrities who are part of the dancing show competition are Team GB medalists Louis Smith and Victoria Pendleton, former rower and gold medalist Sir Steve Redgrave, Westlife star Nicky Byrne and showbiz journalist Richard Arnold.
Also, competing for the crown are TV presenters Fern Britton and Lisa Riley, actress Dani Harmer, Zoe Ball's father Johnny, and EastEnders star Sid Owen.
Michael Vaughn and actor Colin Salmon will also take part on the BBC1 dancing talent show competition.
