The Fox network has been known for airing some of the most loved and most controversial programs. So when they decided to pick up Joss Wendon's show Dollhouse everybody was a little skeptical. Dollhouse premiered on February 13, 2009 and was meet with mixed reviews by critics and viewers. The show stared Eliza Dushku, Harry Lennix, Fran Kranz, Tahmoh Penikett, Enver Gjokaj, Dichen Lachman, and Olivia Willams; with a cast like this what could go wrong? Well almost everything, Dollhouse had great actors, writers, and directors but there was still something missing.
Dollhouse is basically about and underground business run by numerous individuals, this business allows people to rent pre-programmed individuals called Actives. These Actives can be programmed to Love, Hate, or even be indifferent to people around them; but this comes at a price renting Actives costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and some of the Actives go bad even killing regular people or escaping once they become aware of what they are being used for. Dollhouse deals with a lot of moral and ethically situations some of which may be too intense for younger viewers so please use your better judgment when allowing little children to watch this program with you.
When Joss Whedon came out with this show I am sure he knew what was going to happen to it. Most of his devoted fans accepted this show with open arms and watched every episode; while persons who were new to his work did not know what to expect. This resulted in a bunch of mixed reviews about the show and as of January 29 the show will have closed with only two seasons and 26 episodes. One good thing that came out of this show was the female viewers that it brought to
fox; Dollhouse captured so many of them that this show was only passed in female viewers by Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles.
This is a really good show and I'm sorry it has been scheduled for cancellation, but if you would like to see the whole show you can wait a few months, all 29 episodes will be out on DVD shortly. Overall I give Dollhouse a 7/10 if you can really get into the show you will find it very entertaining, the only reason why I do not give it a full 10 is because I think this show was marketed pretty poorly.
