With all the
religious television networks out there I was not surprised to find an all Catholic TV network; after all they are the biggest Christian denomination around the world.
The Eternal World Television Network (EWTN) is dedicated to furthering the gospel and cause of the Roman Catholic Church and can be found on DirecTV, Dish Network, Sky Angel, Sky Digital, and Sky Italia.
EWTN has become the world's largest
religious network reaching 146 million households in over 126 countries worldwide. It is clear that
EWTN is doing their part in upholding the Christian belief of proselytizing.
Mass is broadcasted live daily from the Alabama monastery in Birmingham so if you are Catholic and find it hard to make it to mass this may be a good option.
But not all of the programming is
religious; about one third of the programs are secular but acceptable, movies and shows like the Bill Cosby Show, cooking shows, and a few western movies are shown. There are also times when conservative leaders from around the world are brought as guests on some of the programs, Laura Ingraham, Pat Buchanan and Robert Novak are a few of these.
EWTN HD is very proud to be the only Catholic television network available in HD and boasts the latest technology in broadcasting. In a statement Michael Warsaw (Network CEO) said "We chose to launch EWTN HD in December so we could bring our viewers all the beautiful images of the Christmas season." So make sure to tune in during the holidays and catch the beautiful and uplifting displays, plays, movies, and ceremonies.
EWTN has not been without controversy, but all in all I give them a 10/10 for sharing the gospel in a way that has not been done before. Whether you are Catholic or not
EWTN will make a good addition to your daily life.
