After lying in broad daylight, America’s Got Talent contestant Timothy Poe has received death threats from fans of the NBC’s talent show.
The singer and his family received a lot of death threats after serious doubts were cast over the authenticity of background, as reported by TMZ.
His loved ones believed that he is suffering from post traumatic stress.
Though, Poe manages to get into the next round, but his future in the competition now hangs in the balance.
According to TMZ, the show will definitely edit upcoming footage, but they have not made any statement about axing Poe.
'I was blown away that I was totally taken in,' Judge Howie Mandell said today. 'I'm really angry with the guy.'
Last Monday, Poe got a lot of sympathy when he revealed that he suffered an injury during his time in Afghanistan, but there is no record about him serving in Afghanistan.
He had provided producers with a picture back when he is still with the military, but has since admitted that he wasn’t the guy on the picture.
'I must have sent the wrong picture from my hard drive to AGT,’ Poe said yesterday.
The photograph is a soldier named Sgt. Norman Bone and he got it from the Department of Defense’s Website.
The show presented the image to the public and stated that it was Poe.
Bone got shocked and angered when he found out that someone is using his picture.
'First thing that came to my mind was "Why would this lying son of a b***h do this?" I'm absolutely furious. Been seeing red all day,' Bone, who is serving in El Paso, told TMZ.
Bone noted that he never knew Poe before and is considering legal action against him.
According to a new report of the website, A spokesperson claimed that the show want to apologize to Sgt. Bone for using his picture without any authorization. The picture has already been removed and they will not use it again.
Poe has a military record that he served with the Minnesota Army National Guard from December 2002 through May 2011, working as a supply specialist.
The record never stated that he got deployed in Kosovo from October 10, 2007, to July 15, 2008, and then served in Afghanistan for about a month in 2009.
'Sgt Poe's official military records do not indicate that he was injured by a grenade in combat while serving in Afghanistan in 2009, as he reports,' Lt Col Kevin Olson, a spokesman for the Minnesota National Guard, said in a statement.
The spokesman noted that Poe never got the Purple Heart, which is given to soldiers those who got injured while fighting. Poe didn't claim he had received the award.
