The American science fiction show Fringe made its debut in the late part 2008 and has since run for 2 complete seasons. Fringe is basically about all things paranormal; the show centers around the life of a team of government agents as they solve cases that are unexplainable. In many ways this show seems like a mash-up of all the popular science fiction shows that have aired on television over the years. Creators J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman, and Roberto Orci said they are trying something new. This is a total different show than we are used to see coming from Mr. Abrams, but he has done a pretty good job of keeping it interesting every step of the way.
Fringe has received pretty good ratings; the first episode was leaked three months before the season premiered but when it finally did air the episode still received over 9 million views. The show receives about 7 million views on average per episode as of 2009 and has been deemed ok by most critics. This is surprising because they also say that this show seems like a hybrid of The Twilight Zone and The X-Files; if you like any of those shows you should check out Fringe because it is pretty similar.
The directors have done a good job of improvising film locations. For example Fringe takes place at Harvard University, but it is actually filmed at Yale University. Another random fact about the show is that there is a special code that can be decoded if you know where to look; I will not tell you exactly what it is, but it has something to do with the frog seen throughout the show promo ads.
At first I thought ok, this show is just normal, nothing really special about it; but I was totally wrong. This show has progressed pretty nicely; the story line is great and the actors and actresses do a great job. I have a feeling this show is going to be around for a pretty long time. But do not take my word for it; head over to the
Fox Network and check out this program for yourself. If you would like to catch up on the episodes you missed you can buy the complete first season which is now available on DVD or you can head over to
Fox.com; there you will find some of the episodes available for free.
