Gary Unmarried is one of the many shows that premiered on
CBS between 2008 and 2009. This comedy show was created by Ed Yeager and stars Jay Mohr, Pala Marshall, Rayan Malgarini, Kathryn Newton, Keegan-Michael Key, and Brookey D'Orsay. Gary Unmarried is currently in its second season and has already aired 37 episodes each of which are about 22 minutes long without commercial breaks. Gary Unmarried is produced by
ABC Studios and
CBS Television Studios and was officially launched on September 24th 2008.
Gary Unmarried is basically about the life of Gary Brooks and his ex-wife Allison Brooks. Both he and his wife have to share custody of the children and this causes problems because both of them get pretty jealous of the other. Not to mention the fact that Gary is a very layback parent as opposed to Allison who is very strict and requires a lot more for their two children than he does.
This show is pretty funny but some parents may find problems with the choices the characters make. For example Gary encourages his young son to take a girl to his bedroom, he is a drinker, and he also uses tons of words that most parents count as taboo. But this is not uncommon with most shows around today so if you are comfortable with your children watching shows like Two and a Half Men this show should not be a problem at all. On the bright side Gary and his ex wife always seem to resolve situations before the end of the program so that's a plus.
Since this show has been on the air it has received ok reviews from critics and has averaged around 7 million viewers per episode; this is counting all the viewers nationally and international. This is the norm for television shows on
CBS so this program is doing pretty good.
All things considered I think this is a pretty funny show. The situation the two main characters find themselves in is very common today and a lot of viewers can relate so if
CBS plays its cards right this show can last a long time. If you would like to watch it for yourself head over to
CBS or check out their website where you will find full length episodes, cast information, and tons of extras. In addition you can purchases the complete first season which is now available on DVD.
