Over the years
The CW has brought us many great shows; so when they announced that they would be premiering a new drama I did not have to second guess about how good this show was going to be. Gossip Girl was created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage and is based on the book Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar. The show first aired on September 19, 2007 and has since run for a total of three seasons covering fifty five episodes. Each show is about 42 minutes long without commercial breaks and usually draws 2 million viewers per episode.
The show revolves around the lives of high school aged teenagers who all live in NY; some of the characters are part of the in crowd and others become part because of situations that are created; some purposely and some by accident. The show is narrated by a character that remains anonymous and goes by the name of Gossip Girl; this character runs a blog which all major characters in the show read. Gossip Girl’s blog usually consists of everything about everybody; she definitely has ears and eyes all over Manhattan and constantly uses them to update the general public on the lives of the in crowd.
Gossip Girl is filmed on location in Manhattan, NYC, Upper East Side, and Brooklyn so there are some very interesting sets featured in this show. The cast was also carefully selected and features some of the best actors and actresses around today.
Even though the name may make it sound like this show is only for girls; Gossip Girl has a lot of male viewers. The storyline is pretty interesting and male viewers all over the world have been getting into this show. Not to mention the numerous awards that this show has won in its three short years on television. Gossip Girl has already spawned a spinoff called Valley Girls which is currently being showed on
The CW but enough random facts about this show, is this something that you would want to watch? If you like a lot of romance dramas or teen shows than Gossip Girl is the show for you. If you have not found one you like; you should also check out this show because it is a little deferent than most of the others out there. All things considered I give Gossip Girl an 8/10
