Born on 16th April, 1965 Jon is an American Script writer, actor and producer. He is born to the renowned actress and singer Gretchen Cryer and Donald David Cryer who is also a famous actor, singer and producer. He is renowned all over the world for his debut movie 'No Small Affair' and his role of 'Duckie' in the movie 'Pretty in Pink'. The second movie made him extremely popular and proved to be a catalyst for his career. Soon after the movie's success he started writing for his own movie and completed writing for it in the year 1988. His movie 'Went to Coney Island on a Mission from God... Be Back by Five' was appreciated and accepted by the viewers and was acclaimed by the critics as well.
Jon completed his graduation in the year 1983 from Bronx High School of Science. He started his acting career when he was just 19 years old in the movie 'No Small Affair'. After his debut movie he worked in a number of more movies but it was only 'pretty in pink' which made him very popular. He has also played the lead role of a villain in the movie Superman 4- The Quest for Peace. In the year 1990 he worked in the comedy movie 'Hot shots' which was highly appreciated all over the world. He made guest appearances in many shows after that before he finally wrote and produced his own movie.
His flop TV career seemed endless but finally the time changed and he was casted in the most famous comedy TV series '
Two and a Half Men'. This series became extremely popular and was aired on
CBS channel. He has won many awards including 4 nominations in the Prime time Emmy Awards and winning one out of them. Jon married twice and he has a son from his first wife Sarah Trigger whom he married in the year 1999. Sarah and Jon got divorced in 2004 and he married Lisa Joyner in 2007. He is still happily married with Lisa and the couple has also adopted a baby girl. Till date he is successfully working in both movies and TV series.
