Keith Ablow, middle name Russell, is an American psychiatrist who was born on 23rd November 1961. He has become known to the public due to his work as a television personality and from being a best selling author with the New York Times. Ablow was born in Massachusetts where he was also raised. In 1983 he graduated from Brown University and moved to a psychiatric Medical Centre in 1987 at Tufts New England Medical Centre. Here later received a Doctor of Medicine degree from Johns Hopkins Medical Centre. During Ablows studies in medicine, he also worked as a reporter for Newsweek and as a freelancer for the Baltimore Sun and Washington Post. Following this he became a medical director of the Heritage Health Systems and Tri City Mental Health Centres. In 1996 Keith Ablow established his own private practice of forensic, adult and adolescent psychiatry with three offices in New York, Massachusetts and Newbury Port. His private work has led him to high profile court cases including Clark Rokefeller and Mary Winkler. During 2007, Ablow published his first book called 'Living the Truth: Transform Your Life Though the Power of Insight and Honesty' which focused on self-help for its readers. This was produced in line with an interactive personal empowerment self-help Internet community titled 'Living the Truth'. Portrayed in both media products, Ablow shares his belief that negative experiences in life will negatively affect every aspect of our lives in the future. Because of these beliefs, Keith does not believe short term medications or therapy cure in the short term. In Living the Truth confides that facing the past is the first step to happiness. During Ablows medical studies, he assumed the role of medical editor for Lifetime Medical Television in Los Angeles and New York during 1985 to 1989. In 1987 he authored his first book called 'Medical School: Getting In, Staying In, Staying human'. In 2003 Keith became executive producer of Expert Witness with Matthew Modine. Additional television appearances have come from the Today Show, Good Morning America, The O'Reilly Factor, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Howard Stern Show and The Tyra Banks Show. He went on to host and produce his own daily talk show nationally from Warner Brothers from mid 2006 to September 2007 called The Dr Keith Ablow Show. Famously, Ablow managed to interview John Karr who confessed to being the murderer of child star Jon Benet Ramsey when in fact he was innocent. The show was cancelled; however since then Ablows work has featured in Men's Fitness and Good Housekeeping magazines as a contributing editor. He also contributes regularly to the Fox News Channel blog and New York Post. In January 2010, Keith Ablow was attacked by Keith Luke while visiting him in Jail where Luke's defence lawyers hired Ablow to help with a case of insanity.
