Kitchen Nightmares is an American television program that airs on the
Fox network, this program is based off of the British show Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. Kitchen Nightmares first aired in the US on September 19th 2007 and has since run for two complete seasons; Kitchen Nightmares is currently in its 3rd season which began on January 29th 2010. This program was developed by Brad Kreisberg and stars Gordon Ramsay, narrations for the 3rd season are done by Arthur Smith but the two previous seasons were narrated by J.V. Martin.
Kitchen Nightmares is basically about how Gordon Ramsay goes to a failing restaurant business and turns it around. Usually this includes teaching the kitchen staff how to manage their work properly, and teaching the waiters how to command the respect of customers while making sure they are not rude to them. Usually by the end of the episode the restaurants have made a complete turnaround; this includes getting their bank accounts out of the red; this is one of the main problems they face. This program is mainly interesting because of its star Gordon Ramsay. Gordon is a highly awarded chef who is considered one of the best cooking minds of this century. He is also featured in other popular shows such as Hell's Kitchen and Gordon Ramsay: Cookalong Live; these are two of the most viewed cooking shows on television.
Kitchen Nightmares has not gone without criticism; in 2007 the former manager of one of the restaurants filed a case stating that Gordon has faked a lot of the disasters and hired actors to come in and trick viewers. Of course this case did not last long and was dismissed soon after. Also Maureen Ryan from the Chicago Tribune said that this is
Fox's mocked up version of the show.
I do not agree with the claims that this show is not good; Kitchen Nightmares is a pretty decent show. Does it teach a lot? I'll let you be the judge of that. If you would like to watch this show head over to the
Foxor log onto their website where you will find full length episodes, photos, and a place to discuss the show. Gordon does a real good job of all his show and this one is no exception so if you are the kind of person who is interested in cooking I can almost guarantee you will love this show.
