Born on 8th August, 1968, Kyra Phillips today is a renowned American
news anchor. Kyra Phillips was born in Illinois, the 21st state of USA. Her parents relocated themselves to San Diego, where she was actually raised and studied. Her mother is a teacher and fathers a Spanish college professor. Kyra has one brother, Chip Phillips, who is a famous actor in America. Kyra is a fan of John Madden, the very famous American football player. Her interest in Journalism enforced her to pursue Bachelors in Journalism, from University of Sothern California.

CNN. In the year 1994 she started her career with WLUK-TV as a reporter and a weekend anchor. She then joined WDSU-TV which is located in New Orleans. Kyra also worked in Texas for KAMC-TV, as a
news anchor for the morning shift. As a field producer, she also worked for
CNN, Washington D.C. Then she joined KCBS-TV at the post of Journalist of the special assignment unit.
It was in the year 1999 that Kyra Phillips joined
CNN. The kind of worked she did on
CNN helped her grow as a person and enrich different types of experiences. When she just joined
CNN, she was offered admittance in airing of U.S Navy CVW-9. In early parts of 2002, she was asked to work on a documentary to be aired on
CNN presents, for which she spent over a month in Antarctica. Later in the year 2002, she worked on and reported U.S Navy's mission of exploration and investigation from the famous USS Paul Hamilton. She also presented Navy's special operation on command and the Navy SEALS.
Phillips also involved herself in SWAT training, TOPGUN School, weapon school and various police training. As an embedded journalist, Kyra reported the Iraq war invasion from USS Abraham Lincoln, in 2003. Kyra also covered the election proceedings in 2008 as a co-anchor with Lisa Desjardins. Phillips is reportedly the last reporter/journalist to flutter in an F-14.
Kyra has been both criticized and appreciated for her work till date. Kyra is a flamboyant
news anchor, but many a times she has been disparaged for her being insensitive to many issues during the interviews she conducted. She is famed for her task to report the Iraq war. She brilliantly accounted the Iraq war and also reported how the lives of Iraqi people were affected because of the war. Her insensitivity surfaced and was badly criticized during an interview with Dr Imad al-Najada. Dr. Najada was the doctor of the 12 year old boy who was hit by the U.S missile in Bagdad. Her statements during that interview were highly condemned.
Kyra has seen all the ups and downs in her life, whether it is about her profession or personal life, she has seen it all. She has been awarded with 4 Emmy awards, 2 Edward R. Murrow Awards and one Reporter of the year by associated press.
Kyra after dating John Roberts for over a year got engaged on 25th April, 2010.
