From the moment that last year’s winner of Britain Got Talent, Jai McDowall name got announced as the winner. He thought that he got it all at the palm pf his hands.
However, his stardom, only last for just nine months since he got dumped by the recording company that he had signed up with.
Now, all that got left of him is his three bedroom house that was built on a street called “fail Avenue”.
Last January, while Cowell got interviewed, he got disappointed by what had happened with McDowall. He added that last year’s champion of the ITV reality show was not one of the best.
‘After that he emailed to say he thought my performance at the Royal Variety performance was absolutely brilliant, and once to tell me he thought my album was “quite good”,’ as told by McDowall in an interview with MailOnline.
Most people got shocked when he won the reality show over the crowd favorite, Ronan Parke.
Following his success at the reality show, he immediately worked on his album.
The album manages to sell around 11,336 copies.
McDowall blamed the big stars, including Michael Buble for his lack of success for selling the album
He added that he never asked for support from Sony and Cowell, but he felt like he should have spoken with them about it.
He believed that he could push the album a little bit more, but the Cowell and Sony could work harder on the promotion.
McDowall revealed the truth about his one-album deal; the record company never bothers to tell him directly that they are going to extend the contract.
He continued that after watching the reality show last week, he thought that the show was good.
McDowall said ‘My advice to anyone on the show is try and enjoy it, because I was a nervous wreck’.
He added that the music industry is ruthless that if you can not compete with the best then you can not keep on working with record company. They are going to get rid of you once that you can not prove anything.
When he won the show last year, he was able to buy his dream house and pay for it outright.
This year, the prize money, is bigger since it is five times bigger than before (£500,000). Cowell only appeared on the semi-finals last year, but this year, he will be one of the judges from the start show.
Sony had confirmed to MailOnline that they are not going to make another album with the last year’s winner of the ITV reality show.
