Mercy is an
American television drama which debuted in the latter part of 2009. This show appears on the
NBC network and is currently in its first season. Most of the indoor shots are filmed at the Barnert Hospital in NJ. This hospital is current not in use so the film crew have full access to it. The outside shots are done at Newark Ave., Colgate St., and a few other locations around Jersey City.
Mercy centers around the lives of three nurses working in a fictional hospital. This hospital from which the show takes its name is Mercy General. Here the three nurses all have to confront different situations, most of the times the situations revolve around them feeling that their work is not appreciated. The show features the acting talents of Taylor Schilling, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Jaime Lee Kirchner all these actresses do a fine job of playing their characters and I am sure if this show lasts long enough they will receive awards for their work.
This show has been doing ok in ratings since its launch in September of 2009, it has not gotten enough viewers to be crowned a great show, but it has also had enough viewers that
NBC has not kicked it off the air. This is typical of most new shows; the ratings for the first few months are pretty inconclusive but after that we will get to see what people really think. What I think so far is that this show is being use as a space filler until
NBC can find something real good to take its place. Somehow it just seems like everything else; there is not anything real special about this show. Being like everything else is not always bad when it comes to television, if there is a proven way to make a TV show that viewers will like, why try and be innovative? On the down side most shows like this do not last more than a few seasons, but if
NBC is lucky they might just have a pretty good show on their hands.
But do not take my word for it or any other critic for that matter, if you watch this show what is the worse that could happen? You lose a few minutes of your life? Go check it out for yourself; you may be one of the 7 million who find this program very entertaining.
