She landed her first job in the nineteen sixties at WBZ TV as a public affairs director. This perhaps did not give her the excitement that she needed, or one which is accompanied with being on air, and in nineteen sixty nine she moved to WKBG TV for their ten PM news. She was able to get the head start here with some of the best newscasters. Come nineteen seventy two and she moved to WCVB as a reporter. Within months of her being on air in the station, she was able to establish herself and went ahead to take over the noon newscast.
She was later to be promoted to the station's flagship four years later, where she was required to take on the six PM news. In nineteen seventy eight, the eleven news was added to her docket. She was to seal her broadcast journalism career when she married her co anchor Chet Curtis. For twenty years, the couple was to be the most watched news team in Boston. It was this marriage that culminated into the birth of their first daughter, but their much publicized divorce saw them per ways in the year two thousand.
It was after the divorce that she relinquished her eleven o'clock news. Between the years nineteen ninety four and two thousand and five, she had been anchoring the 5:00 PM news. Seven years down the line after the fatal blow was dealt to her marriage, Jacobson was to announce that she was leaving WCVB TV. Her last live telecast was aired on July eighteenth the same year, and this saw the curtains fall on a woman who had ruled television airwaves for thirty five years. She moved on to a multimedia business which she launched in the same year after leaving live telecasts.
This is one newscaster known for her love for swimming, besides being a qualified pilot. Throughout her career she was known for the calmness which she portrayed on television, and the more the years advanced the calmer she appeared. She is known to enjoy cooking, especially Serbian dishes, and also gardening. It is often said that man is a social animal, and with that in mind it is extremely possible to reach her on face book, where she has an account. Since her retirement, she has appeared in a number of talk shows, most of which have focused on her broken marriage.
