Cheryl Cole got fired from X Factor USA within just three weeks of hosting the Fox network reality TV show, but critics from the US prefers her better than the new judge Nicole Scherzinger.
A lot of the celebrated TV show critics from the US that had seen the preview say that the former Pussycat Dolls singer is a downgrade from Cheryl Cole.
Neil Glenzinger of the New York Times says the initial episode gives an astounding amount of screen time to Cheryl Cole, a British pop star whom Mr Cowell got rid of from the panel last spring, in the middle of try-out.
In the middle, of the show, Cheryl suddenly disappears without any notice, and now Nicole had replaced her as a new judge for the US version of X Factor.
He added that Nicole is a downgrade since Cheryl seems to be interesting. ON the other hand, Nicole is a pretty face, but it does not add anymore to the judges’ panel as she does not contribute too much on the show. She is just a seta warmer.
The Los Angeles Times's Mary McNamara also unconvinced with the performance of Nicole on the show.
She noted that might have replaced Cole since she seemed bewildered; however, she is more appealing than the new judge.
During the early scenes of the show, Nicole seems to be more interested in competing with the glamour that Jennifer Lopez is bringing in the American Idol. She seems not to be interested in contributing too much on the commentary side.
Steve Johnson of The Chicago Tribune claims Scherzinger does not come off as a noticeable improvement in the initial part of the show. She can be compared to Kara Diogardi, who is more earnest than Jennifer Lopez.
USA Today writer Robert Bianco also seems baffled by the sudden lost of Cole in the reality show. He writes that X Factor did not explain why they have Cole replaced with Scherzinger.
He added that Scherzinger does is not as sharp and elusive in her comments
This is also the reason, why it would be wise to hold back judgments on the panel until the live show is finally up.
Another X Factor newbie, who did not impress the US critics, is Steve Jones.
The New York Times pointed out that Welsh host Steve Jones as irrelevant to the show,' while The Boston Herald's Mark A Perigard believe that the X Factor US host is better off in another network.
