Sharon Tay is a television broadcast journalist formerly with the American television network MSNBC where she anchored two programs. She hosted the shows MSNBC At The Movies as well as MSNBC Entertainment Hot List. During this period she appeared in the lead role alternatively as the anchor or the co-host. She joined
MSNBC in 2005 where she worked for less than a year. She is currently at KCBS-TV and kcal-TV where she has hosted programs since 2007.
Her career began back in Boston subsequent to her finishing her university course in 1986 when she obtained her first job. During this time she hosted programs, scripted and acted as a producer for a current affairs program for a United States cable network station. She made her debut in the big studios in 1993 when the former KCCN-TV (currently KION) employed her as an investigative journalist. She then joined Tribune Broadcasting in their Los Angeles studios where she went to the top as host for the morning news show. Her definitive stay in MSNBC began in 2004 when she left her former station in Los Angeles.
Her other stints at the television studios include the program, That's So Hollywood on KTTV and on the drama series Las Vegas aired on NBC network. In these two programs she featured in her favorite role of a seeking television reporter. Since leaving MSNBC, Sharon Tay is now employed by
CBS 2 as an anchor. She also works as an anchor on kcal 9 as a news presenter during the evening prime news on weekdays. She is enlisted in the Asian American Journalists Association and also acts as the spokesperson at the Director's Edge which showcases her dual interest in the movies and on television. On the silver screen, Sharon Kay has featured in the movies, acting alongside Will Smith in Independence day as a journalist as well as Eagle Eye. She also appeared as a model on the cover of the Razor Magazine. She has won five awards under the television broadcasting theme.
Sharon Tay was born on the 15th of October in 1966 in Singapore of an Asian American descent. She was brought up in Connecticut on the East coast of the United States. She was once married to a stockbroker before they were divorced. The TV presenter who is multilingual versed in English, Spanish and Cantonese is based in Los Angeles. She acquired her Bachelors in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University.
