Shepard Smith is currently working as a news anchor for Fox News. Also known as Shep, to those who know him, Shepard Smith Jr, was born on 14th of January, 1964 in the town of Holly Springs, Mississippi, USA. His mother, Dora Ellen Anderson was an English Teacher and his father, David Shepard Smith, Sr, a cotton merchant. His parents separated and Shepard spent part of his school life in Florida before returning to Mississippi University to complete his journalism course. After completing his education, Shepard Smith pursued a career in the same field of journalism. He was married in 1987 to a university sweetheart but the relationship was to only last for another 6 years before the couple divorced. In pursuit of his career in TV, David Shepard Smith got his break in TV in 1985 when he joined WJHG-TV in Florida. He went on to join a variety of other TV stations in the capacity of a reporter. These stations included WCJB-TV, WBBH-TV, WSVN and now WKMG-TV (formerly known as WCPX-TV). He also had the opportunity to work as an anchor during his time at WSVN. He followed on to become a correspondent for the TV series "A Current Affair" before joining the Fox News Channel. Shepard Smith has been fortunate enough to cover many top stories during his career with Fox News. Soon after joining Fox News in 1996, he was assigned to cover the death of Princess Diana. This was a major story that catapulted Shepard Smith into the limelight where he became known to the American and worldwide audiences. He continued to race ahead in his career to cover further major stories that included coverage of the controversy in the Florida Ballot count during the year 2000 American elections. His rise to the forefront of reporting and news anchor continued when he covered more pressing and popular stories such as Timothy McVeigh's execution in 2001 that was witnessed by millions of Americans. In 2005 he also managed to extensively cover the hurricane Katrina story for Fox News. Shepard Smith's reputation was further elevated when his "The Fox Report" program managed to earn the top ranking in news programs. As a top ranked anchor for a trusted reporter and journalist, Shepard Smith continues to make a big contribution not just to Fox News, but also to other popular news programs. He shares high rankings for being one of the top news anchor earners in the industry Shepard Smith has also appeared in a variety of films including the film Volcano, Fahrenheit 9/11 (where he appeared as himself). Shepard Smith continues to enjoy his news anchor career at the top and is currently unmarried with no children. He has also been questioned about his sexuality, which he has refused to discuss with the public on any of the TV channels that he has appeared on or in any of the newspapers. It has been eluded in the past that Shepard Smith is gay but he has not chosen to discuss his sexual preferences.
