Sit Down, Shut Up is an American animated comedy television show that airs on the
Fox network. This show made its debut on April 19th 2009. This program was created by Mitchell Hurwitz and stars the voice talent of Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, Kristin Chenoweth, Will Forte, Tom Kenny, Nick Kroll, Cheri Oteri, Kenan Thompson, and Henry Winkler. The show ran for a complete 2 seasons before being kicked out of its regular time slot. Originally this program was suppose to replace the very popular show King of The Hill, but it did not gain the audience
Fox hoped it would and was canceled after just 13 short episodes. If you every want to know how not to make an animated show research this one because it is a perfect example.
This animated show is basically about the lives of a group of high school teachers who work in a small Florida town. Most of the characters seem like they are going crazy or have already lost their mind altogether and it is a wonder how the children are still alive. With a plot line like that how could this program go wrong? You have crazy teachers, helpless children and there should be hours of fun.
This show received pretty crappy ratings from just about every critic except the Chicago Sun-Times, and even their review of the show was only to the extent of saying they think
Fox was onto something; apparently they were wrong. One of the main problems with this show is the fact that they did not find the line and cross it. That is the basis of any comedy show, finding the line that should not be crossed and crossing it. I really hope
Fox learns their lesion from this disaster.
Overall this is a pretty crappy show. If it was on another network maybe I would think about giving it a decent review, but coming from
Fox this is a disaster especially when compared to their other animated shows like
American Dad,
Family Guy,
The Cleveland Show, and
The Simpsons.
Fox has been known for putting out real great cartoons over the years but they really made a blunder when they decided to air this piece of crap. If you do not believe me you can check out the show for yourself at
fox.com I am sure you will agree with me after just watching 5 minutes of it.
