Based on his comments, Steven Tyler doesn’t want to be a judge for any reality shows and just want to focus on his rock star image one more.
In a new interview, the 64-year-old singer noted that he never enjoyed his job as an American Idol judge. All he likes about the job were the vast pay and he was sited next to J-Lo.
Tyler announced his retirement from the Fox show last month after two seasons confessed that he accepted the job so that he could have some time off from the band. During that time, his bandmates were feuding. Now the feud has been resolved, and he wants to focus on his band.
'It was something to do while the storm blew by, to be honest,' as said by Steven Tyler in an interview with Rolling Stone.
Tyler was reported earning $10m a season - says he likes the fame and raised profile that the show provided him, but he don’t like the part where he was force to act as the replacement of the show.
The Aerosmith vocalist confessed that he never like the idea of living up to Simon’s persona after the latter left the reality show so that Simon could go to America.
He continued: 'The show's about kids and what you do to nurture their talent. They wanted me to take the p*** out of the kids, and I don't have that in me.
'That's not what I'm about. That's more about that other guy. Not me.'
Tyler can only describe his relationship with the show as 'love-hate'.
He told the magazine: 'I loved it and hated it. It was a great job, I sat next to J-Lo, and I made a ton of money. It was a moment in life, and it became larger than life.'
Though, the pay was immense, he got tired of the show as the days went by.
'It was just hard work,' he explained. 'Seven-hour days and then I went and did the [Aerosmith] album for eight hours after that.'
Aerosmith is set to release their new album, Music From Another Dimension, in November. This new album is three years in the making.
Jennifer Lopez soon followed after Tyler announced his departure from the show.
Mariah Carey is among the new judges of the reality show. It is not yet confirmed on whether Randy Jackson will return in the American Idol as a judge or becomes a mentor for the contestants instead.
Aside from Mariah Carey, Nick Jonas and Pharrell Williams were rumored to join the panel of judges.
According to TMZ Snoop Lion, who was previously known as Snoop Dog also wanted to become a judge for the reality show.
