SuperNanny is a British television program that currently airs on
ABC. This show was first launched in 2004 on Channel 4 in the UK, but since then
ABC has acquired the rights to air this program. Each episode is approximately an hour long; this includes commercial breaks. SuperNanny is produced by Ricochet and stars Jo Frost. Jo Frost is a behavioral specialist who helps parents gain back control in their home, usually the parents have no idea what they are doing and have a hard time getting their children to do simple things such as not screaming when they do not get their favorite cereal. Jo is best known for telling the parents like it is, she does not make things sound nice but she is also very kind and gentle with the parents and children.
Usually episodes of this show start out with Jo being shown a video that the family has submitted. Then she will head over to their house and spend the day watching them and assessing what she needs to fix for them. After this she calls a meeting with the parents and tells them what needs to be done and how to do it; this can be anything for teaching them how to discipline the children to sending the parents to rehab. After all that is completed she leaves and comes back after a week to see how the family is doing and to make sure that they are following the instructions she gave them.
This program has gotten pretty good ratings and reviews. I think this is a pretty decent program because it deals with something that we hardly hear of today; most of the times we just hear about behavioral problems but there is hardly anybody who does something about it. Just by watching this program you can learn a lot and be better suited to work with children.
