The Cleveland Show is the newest addition to
Seth MacFarlane's fictional world. This show is a spinoff of the popular television show
Family Guy. It follows the adventures of Cleveland Brown and his son Cleveland Brown Jr. after Cleveland's wife divorces him. This show's episode layout and animation is almost identical to
Family Guy and
American Dad; talking animals, violence, stereotypes, and nearly brain dead people are what comprise every episode. I am certain if anybody else had come up with this show it would not have been funny;
Seth is a genius.
The Cleveland Show officially launched in September of 2009 and has been on the air ever since. This show is still in its first season and has not been receiving good ratings. This is not because critics consider it too violent or racist; it is because most of them say they do not see the need for three identical shows on television. I can see from a critic point of view how this makes sense, but from
Fox's point of view it makes sense to keep this show on television because they are making money from it. There would be no sense in canceling the show while it is still being watched by millions of viewers unless they have something better to replace it with, and as it stands; they don't.
The Cleveland is basically
Family Guy with a black twist to it; there is still a little rude baby, talking animal neighbors, dimwitted fat son, etc. The woman of the house has not seemed to gain any sense either, so if you are expecting this show to be different in any from any other of
Seth's shows; forget about it. The Cleveland show is a perfect example of what little talent it takes to make a television show, most of the plot lines do not seem to have much thought put into them and a lot of things make absolutely no sense.
All things considered I give this show a 6/10; it is not as over the top as
Family Guy or
American Dad but there are enough good jokes to keep you entertained throughout the whole show. So head over to the
Fox Network and watch this show today. If you would like to see any episodes you missed check out hulu.com there you will find full episodes of this show and its sister shows
Family Guy and
American Dad. This is provided through partnership with
