The Deep End is an
American television drama put out by
ABC; this show premiered on January 21, 2010 and is currently watched by over 7 million Americans. How this show receives even one view is beyond me. The show is basically about five young lawyers who all land jobs at one of the biggest law firms in LA. Surprisingly this show is filmed hundreds of miles away in Irving TX, I guess
ABC decided to do this to cut down the budget. The main actors and actresses from this show are: Tina Majorino, Norbert Butz, Mehcad Brooks, Ben Lawson, Clancy Brown, Matt Long, Billy Zane, Leah Pipes, and Nicole Ari Parker; I must say they do a pretty good job, the main problem I have with this show are with its writers.
The writers of The Deep End do not seem to care about the authenticity of their show. They constantly have the characters doing things that could never been done in real life at a law firm; I am not saying that other programs are perfect but at least they try. In addition the writers of this show much be stuck a few centuries back, for example after the show was reviewed by a group of real life lawyers they all came back with the same report; if this law firm was real they would fail because the characters refuse to use things like the Westlaw database. Instead they search for information manually which takes up tons of valuable hours.
Aside from having really cute actresses I do not see what this show has to offer.
ABC must really have gone off the deep end when they decided to give this program the green light. Yes I have seen worse shows than this but at least they had a point. Most of the episodes just remind me of everything I hate about television; the incoherent rambling, the crappy writing styles, everything about the program irks me. I do not stand alone when I say you should only see this show if you have absolutely nothing to do, even if all you can find to do is bang your head against the wall I am sure it will be more entertaining than The Deep End. But as always do not take my word for it head over to
ABC and check out this program for yourself, just don't come crying about how you want the last 60 minutes of your life back.
