Formerly known as "The
History Channel", History is an international cable TV channel dedicated to ancient and modern history. History is owned by
A&E and has many sister channels that provide the service of this channel around the world.
Just because History is very educational does not mean the channel is boring. Most of the programs are presented in a very exciting way; so-much-so that you would think you are watching a movie. This is because of the reenactments. Done by professional actors and actresses they are some of the best views of history available today. History also uses the latest cutting edge technology to make programs such as "Dogfights" and "Cities of the Underworld"
Most of the programs are rated TV-14 and some of them contain strong language; well as strong as you can expect from a cable television channel. Also I must caution that some of the programs shown on
History are graphically violent and younger viewers should watch with a responsible adult.
History has come under fire for airing programs such "The Men Who Killed Kennedy" and "World War II". After the program The Men Who Killed Kennedy was reviewed by a few historians, it was deemed inaccurate and has not been shown since then. In addition History has been criticized for airing too many programs about World War II and was nick named "The Hitler Channel". I do not agree with these claims, the reason being WWII is part of history and that is what the channel is about.
History Channel is nothing but pure awesome. Maybe in the last century you could get away with saying there were not enough interesting educational channels around, but with channels like
Discovery, Animal Planet, and History there are more than enough quality programming to watch.
Overall I give History 9/10.
