NBC's Today Show is the third longest running American television series as of August 7, 2009, and they have aired 17,050 episodes. The Today Show made its debut on January 17, 1952 and since then there has been no going back. I am sure most of you already know this, but for those of you who do not let me explain what The Today Show Actually is. In the mid 1950's
NBC decided that they needed to compete with all the late-night shows that were around, so they became very innovative and decided that the best way to do this is to create a show (the first of its kind) that people could watch in the early hours of the morning. As we can see this was a very good idea and today we have hundreds of early-morning shows vying for viewers, but The Today Show always comes out on top. The first host of The Today Show was
NBC's vice-president Sylvester L. Weaver, Jr and the show centered on news, weather and a few other subjects. As of 2009 the Today Show has had 12 anchors, 3 weather reporters, and 6 regular panelists and is currently anchored by Ann Curry.
Over the years the format news is delivered in has not really changed, news is still news. But being one of the leaders in television broadcasts
NBC makes sure to utilize every possible advance in technology so that you are delivered clear picture and sound. When watching The Today Show you do not have worry about crappy reception; if there is something going on in the world The Today Show will always be there to give you news about it. News does not take a break and neither do they.
There is a good reason why this program has been on television so long, they continue to provide quality programming that is both very informative and entertaining. They have definitely earned their 5 million viewers, most major television news programs run for 15-20 years before dying or losing tons of viewers, but The Today Show has proven that if you offer viewers quality programming instead of junk; they will stick around. This is not one of my “must watch” shows but if you have the time I suggest you check out The Today Show;
NBC has done a really great job with it and I am sure you will be impressed.
