Too sick to continue Lucy Spraggan decided to quit The X Factor - Lucy Spraggan finally decided to quit the competition after finding out that she wont be able to perform this week

Lucy Spraggan finally decided to quit the competition after finding out that she won’t be able to perform this week. This would be the second week that she would advance to the next round without even singing if she hadn’t decided to quit. The 21-year-old hopeful confessed how 'gutted' she was to bow out of the ITV1 show, but explained how unfair that would be for the other competitors to have another 'free pass' for Saturday night's show. In an authorized statement, Lucy said: 'I am gutted not to be able to continue on this journey, but I'm not well enough to perform. 'To accept another free pass having missed last weekend would not be fair on the others in the competition. I wish them all well. 'I would like to express my thanks to everyone who has supported me. There is no way that this setback will prevent me from fulfilling my ambition. You'll be hearing from me again very soon.' An X Factor spokesperson added: 'Lucy isn't well enough to perform this weekend, so she has decided to withdraw from the competition. 'We are all sorry to see her go and wish her all the best for the future. She has been a fantastic contestant.' Meanwhile, Tulisa Contostavlos swear to continue mentoring Lucy. She said: 'I’m so sorry to lose Lucy from the competition; I have had a brilliant time working with her and I hope I can continue to mentor her in the future. 'I now count her as a friend as she is an amazing girl and I am sure she is heading for great things.' The Young singer tweeted: 'I'm so sorry to lose @lspraggan from the competition.' Lucy, who has her grandmother lately passed away, was too ill to appear on last week's show and controversially automatically put through to this Saturday's programme. X Factor contestants have been enthusiastic all week, and Lucy supposed to have her first rehearsal on Wednesday afternoon. However, she decided that it would be unfair for her fellow contestants if she would continue on with the competition, even though not able to perform for the second week. A worried Jahmene Douglas told MailOnline at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards: 'I'm really worried about Lucy. I hope she's okay.' Fans were quick to express their concern on their Twitter pages after learning that the artist isn’t going to be seen on X Factor anymore. One fan posted: 'To @lspraggan i am so sorry to hear you have left the competition, i really hope u get better soon. My love an prayers are with you. X'
