The remaining 16 was about to be sliced down to 12 by the panel of judges.
Britney has a hard time making the decision since she considered her acts as her children, she said: 'They're like my children, so it's going to be very hard to choose which one of my children will go home,'
At the end, she was forced to drop one of her acts, and it was a painful decision for the hottest judge of the X Factor.
The beauty chose to send home the 13-year-old Diamond White after her rendition of Elton John's Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word.
Each mentor had to pick two of their four acts for a safe pass through, and then the remaining two acts were forced to sing for survival.
In the Young Adults group (ages 17-24), Demi put through Jennel Garcia and Paige Thomas.
Backstage, a weeping, Jennel told Khloe: 'I'm so happy for myself.' While Paige was dumbstruck, and could only say: 'I can't put into words what this means.'
Cece Frey has no option, but to sing off against the likeable Willie Jones.
Cece stood still at the front of the stage and sang Out Here On My Own from Fame. L.A. said, 'You just saved yourself' and Britney added: 'It was very powerful.'
Cece cried as Simon said he didn't know why she didn't do something like this last night instead of coming out looking like a clown.
Willie also cut down his act from last night, but this time; there were no dancers to back him out as he does his version of Nat King Cole's You Don't Know Me,
'That was good,' said L.A. but Simon stated how his mentor Demi doesn't know what he needs to do with his voice.
'I just think it's not your time right now,' said Demi.
L.A. Reid's over 25 group caused an argument, despite him feeling they all 'did great.'
He put through tattooed rocker Vino Alan and stetson wearer Tate Stevens.
Vino told co-host Mario Lopez backstage how proud her children were.
David Correy and Jason Brock were forced to a sing off and fought for their place; the latter did a slow version of Kelly Clarkson's Since U Been Gone, which Demi hated, and Simon thought was melodramatic.
Then Jason sang his version of Whitney Houston's One Moment in Time, which mask the cracks when he tried for the high notes with his charming personality.
Demi said: 'Today you turned me into a fan,' but Simon caustically remarked that he had a 'slight problem' as they were asking him to 'choose between the last two horses in a race.'
L.A. told Simon how 'mean' he was and defended his chaps, and admitted the decision was between 'Mr Entertainment vs. The Star,' then went for the former.
Next was the delicate Teens, wherein Britney was forced to send home one of her talents.
Beatrice Miller and Carly Rose Sonenclar made it through the next round.
Diamond White and Arin Ray were left to battle it out, and they both knew that they must sing like they'd never sung before.
Arin sang the second Whitney song of the night on I Look To You, Simon knew that the young man has a career ahead of him and must stay, so said: 'That was a great performance.'
After Diamond's Elton balladeering, L.A told her: 'You are a sensational vocalist; no matter you L.A. praised Diamond after singing.
Demi added: 'I like the soul and fire behind your eyes,' and Simon pitied poor Britney her decision.
'This is like the hardest decision ever,' she said.
Britney’s expression was in pain when she finally sent Diamond home. While still halting the tears, the brave teenager said: 'I'm still going to keep smiling. I still love you, Britney.'
Simon's groups were the last one to perform, and he made haste in sending Emblem3 and Lyric 145 to the next stage, which leaves girl bands Sister C and 1432 to battle it out.
Sister C, three impossibly pretty sisters from Austin, Texas sang When I Look At You and the Frankenstein band made by Simon in the audition stage went for Demi's own Skyscraper.
This might be an audacious move, but one Demi loved it, and so did Simon who sent them though.
