Move over One Direction, Union J is here to replace your group as the best boyband.
The current X Factor acts seems to hold the most talented individuals as most of them as already getting some recognition from the crowd even though the ITV2 Talent show is far from over. On Thursday, thousands of fans got disappointed as Union J was forced to cancel an event because of safety reasons.
The boys were about to appear at Brent Cross Shopping centre on Thursday to sign autographs and take pictures, but the event didn’t take place as there were too many fans, which makes it too dangerous for them to attend the fan event.
A source said: 'The boys are gutted they couldn't meet their fans as they were overwhelmed on hearing how many people had turned up.'
'But with so many fans there they were in danger of being mobbed, and fans could have been crushed in the crowds.'
The boys were kind enough to take to their Twitter and say their sorry for not attending the meet and greet event a local shopping center to meet them.
George, 19, JJ, 24, Jaymi, 22 and Josh, 20, posted a picture of themselves while holding up signs saying 'sorry', as well as tweeting out a message.
'#UnionJAreSorry #UnionJLove LOVE YOU ALL AND WE WILL SEE YOU ALL THIS WEEKEND AT STUDIO! WE'RE SO SORRY! George x,' George posted on the site.
However, though the event got cancelled Union J was still mobbed by teenage girls outside their London hotel later that night.
After they had cancelled the event, the band went to Camden restaurant Gilgamesh to recover from the distress with other X Factor bands District 3 and MK1.
But upon their return to London hotel room, they found a group of teenage girls eagerly awaiting their arrival.
The young stars seemed to be delighted by all the attention and were happy to oblige in the photograph and autograph requests.
But not only teenage girls appreciated by the band. Member JJ recently revealed he's interested to date older women, just like One Direction's Harry Style.
'I’d go for a cougar any day!,' the 23-year-old said.
'I love older ladies and am really attracted to them. I don’t care about age. It doesn’t matter, and it shouldn’t matter, should it?'
Although, One Direction got threatened over their boyband crown; they revealed on an interview with Heat magazine that they are fans of all the new X Factor bands.
'The boybands are really good,' Harry Styles said. 'I think its good that there are two boybands because a lot of the time I don't really think they want to put two of them through.'
'I think they are both really great and talented, and they showed that on The X Factor.'
